Underarm Sweating (Axillary Hyperhidrosis)
Dr Adeboye is entitled to treat excessive underarm sweating as an insured service under Saskatchewan Health Insurance; this means your treatment is free – you only pay for your medication!
Excessive sweating (or hyperhidrosis, as it is also known) is a condition which affects both men and women. It is estimated that up to three in every hundred people suffer from it. It is often characterised by excessive underarm sweating, or pronounced sweating in other areas like face, palms, groins and soles.
There is no defined point where sweating is said to be excessive: more it is that if sweating is starting to affect your lifestyle, it is defined as a problem. If you feel that you are becoming withdrawn, anxious or depressed in relation to how much you sweat; if you are taking many showers over the course of a day, or avoiding shaking hands with people to minimise physical contact – it is a problem.
Excess sweating can easily lead to social awkwardness, which has a huge impact on self-confidence and sociability.
Fortunately, treatment for hyperhidrosis is very effective, and it is something that you should not suffer in silence with. Botox injection, delivered precisely into the layer of the sweat glands, is an extremely effective solution for hyperhidrosis. The treatment lasts for 6-9 months, and is straightforward and painless.
The advantage of botox treatment for excessive sweating is that with this approach, there is no need for everyday treatments for sweating such as iontophoresis or application of roll-on.
